Laura's Twenty five days to make a difference

Laura, age ten, who lives in new york started a blog about how she had twenty five days and wanted to make a difference each day. This is her blog: http://twentyfivedays.wordpress.com/
Laura has done many good things including cleaning her fish bowl, canning and donating the money to charity, and helping to make her dads birthday dinner. But while it is very nice to read, I think that you shouldn't do good deeds to tell the world, you should do them because they are the right thing to do. I also fail to see how cleaning a fishbowl makes a real difference in the world. If you have a pet, you've got a responsibility, you can't just leave its bowl there uncleaned, you have to keep your fish safe. I also think that Laura should use spell check or something because I had some trouble reading it because it seemed like every third word was mispelled. And many people do nice things during the christmas season. All the people collecting money and food aren't telling the world about it because they know that they are doing the right thing for the sake of doing the right thing. I plan on donating money to the salvation army ringers, and I am going to be playing the tuba for a christmas pagent, but I'm not going to make a blog about it.

Evan Trembley

I read and e-mail about a boy named Evan Trembly. The e-mail said he was fifteen years old and has been missing for two weeks, and that he lived in Canada. The e-mail did not provide to much information about him though. I felt very worried for Evan and really hoped that he was all right. I was going to forward it to everyone I could but was then told to Google search Evan Trembly.

Upon searching for Evan Trembley, I found out that he was not missing at all, and other key things. The email address giving was not a dot com, it only had com at the end, and even if you added the dot the e-mail address didn't exist. The e-mail did not provide the date Evan supposedly left or what he was last wearing. Evan Trembley actually lives in Texas and started this rumor as a joke to amuse his friends. It's horrible how we can't trust things of this nature completely when they are on the Internet. Evan Trembley's a complete idiot.

Did you Know?

The slide show "Did you know?" was about the changing of the world. I found the slide show exetremely entertaining and immensley informing. It contains lots of info that I know quote to people in everyday conversations. It said how Great Britian was the major world power in 1900, only hundred years ago, and now we are, and pretty soon another country, probably either China or India, will be. The slide show also touched upon how much smaller the world is due to the internet and cell phones.

Youtube

In one video I watched i saw one girl making fun of another girl. She completely destroyed this girl. She made fun of the girls appearence and social status. The video showed the girl that was the one making fun of the other one on a stage speaking into a microphone, and then they would cut into the face of girl who was being made fun of.
I found this video exetremely convincing against cyber bullying. The first girl was saying the most horrible things about the other, while the victims face displayed such shock and emotion. The video ended by saying if you wouldn't say it in person don't say it online, and thats an exetremely good point.
The second video I watched was of a picture up on a billboard, and everytime someone took it, a new copy of the same picture would show, just to show how you can't take back digital images. The picture spread throughout the school and most of the school saw it. In the end the girl tried to get rid of it but couldn't, and then the janitor found it and liked it.
This movie showed me how if you put something online, everybody could see it and you can't take it back. It also showed me how things you post can affect you later on in life, in some cases it affects you quickly. It can even lead to older people find out who you are and what you look like.
The third video i watched dealt with bullying in schools. It had the song "welcome to my life" by simple plan while kids held up posters. At first the posters said that it happens here, that is to say, bullying happens there. Then they posters could also say "I get bullied" then they would go to say facts about bullying. In the end the posters said "I will be a hero"
I found this video very very moving and very very inspiring. It was also exetremely revealing to some of the dangers of bullying. It was moving to see the kids faces, as they were all young kids and that this shouldn't be happening to them. It was moving to see the posters saying I will be a hero and it made me want to be one too.

Globalization 2

Globalization allows us to do all sorts of crazy stuff, so party on. Globalization allows us to connect to the world. It's like the song "It's a small world after all". Globalization makes it possible to travel across the world in less than a day, when four hundred years ago it took two months too cross the atlantic ocean. Cell phones allow us to talk to anybody anywhere that we have cell phone service, which is opening up in an increasing number of areas. Computer technology allows us to send emails to anybody with a computer and find out quite a bit of information on virtually any subject using the internet. Instant messaging allows us to have omplete conversations with people through the internet! Woo Hoo!

Globalization

This blog is about technology and globilization. Knowledge is power! We will talk about all the fun things that globilization does for us. In the U.S. open this year there were many athletes from all over the world, woo hoo! In addition to three tennis players from the U.S., there were two from russia, one each from Serbia, Switzerland, Belgium, and Mallorca. All these great athletes came from all these diffferent countries to one place!

How much time do you spend on a computer a day?

Which search do you prefer?

Which social network do you prefer?

What age were you when you got your first social network

Have you ever used an online dating service like eHarmony?

Have you ever talked to someone you did not know online
